Went to the Art Spielgelman exhibiton and it was fantastic. Very inspirational!! An exhibtion like this gets me realy excited and i must say it didnt let me down. To see all that original art and storyboards, fantastic stuff. Maybe I should be more critical, but I only tend to write about things I like, thus in some way giving them more exposure. Gave my talk on George Grosz today which went ok, just didnt really fel like anything I had to say would be significant in any way. I guees I don't like public speaking. © Anthony Woodward

Tomorrow afternoon I'm going up to the Jewish Museum in Melbourne to see the Art Spielgelman Exhibition of Maus artwork, yey! This is after I give a presentation on the political and social implications of George Grosz Artwerk to my tutorial class, YIKES!! I read an interview with Art in Comic Art Mag recently which was nifty, he says he's working on somethin' new, looking forward to that.
Another Friday night and another shift at the restaurant that I wait tables at. I usually like to get there at least five minutes early by last night I was running just on time. It’s getting harder to find a park these days as there a lot of construction happen in the area and parking bays get reserved for truck and such. So I ended up having to park around the corner from work which si ok except that I have to walk down the main street wearing my bright blue gold embroided Thai shirt (I work in a Thai restaurant) Now being a Friday night the main part of town is like a Mecca for teenagers and Bogans. And you’re bound to get some kind of homophobic or just plain ignorant comment vaulted at you. I locked the car and rounded the corner, so far so good, I thought. I was about halfway there when I could see four teenage Bogans* coming my way with an entourage of tacky looking girls; walking submissively behind the guys of coarse. Just look blankly straight ahead, I thought, don’t look do

Scrambled is now available. I managed to get it out on the release date as promised. So far the only place you can get it is Grainery lane. There should be copies available at the other retailers by next week. Alternatively you can always order from me direct. I was very happy with the finished product and I even managed to eliminate most of the typos and spelling mistakes. Although they cost a little more to produce than I first estimated, and I have to refigure the pricing on them. I saw the Cat Empire play at Grainery last night and they were fantastic. I don't think I’ve danced so much at a show! Anyways I ended up going to some after party and eating cookies until 6 in the morning. Which made the walk home interesting full of noises in the bushes and a street sign that looked like a dog which scared the shit out of me!

I got this society of illustrators book out from the library the other day and came across gary basemans stuff (I'd seen some stuff in Juxtapose once before) anyway I really loved it. I went to his site and he does have a big list of creds, which makes me queasy. Big names such as Disney and even dare I say it Nike. I guess we all have to make a living somehow and since the lesons of 60' Pop art, can we really be so snooty? I'd actually like to see him do a t-shirt for Nike depicting child labour or just your everyday funky sweatshop scene. that'd be really cool, hell I'd buy it! I'll go with Harvey Pekar when he said to Crumb, "Hey I'd sell out inna minnut, but no bodys buyin'" Scrambled comes out in two days, me nervous about deadlines, nevah!!!

Art sCHOOL mADNEss

Yep that’s right I’m back at art school for another beating this year. I’m actually looking forward to the year though I think I’ve learnt how to avoid most obstactles at art school, you just have to talk the talk so to speak. I sort of feel a little silly for my ranting and raving last year about fine art. It’s another one of those things, where if you tackle stupidity you end up becoming stupid yourself. Like the fool who concerns himself with shooting fish in a barrel. In other news it’s all stations go here at Scrambled headquarters, I’m in the final stages of putting it all together, and processing peoples subscriptions, o boy it’s going to be a busy week.
