I went and visited my favourite copy store today in the sweltering heat (somewhere around 40’ even hotter inside the copy store) this in turn led to me accidentally giving myself the night off from comics, as I left my bag with sketchbook and pens in the store… In other news I have been enormously productive this last week completing two mail art projects, setting up future work prospects and starting some new artistic collaborations. Now if only I could get around to putting the finishing touches on my next book, of which I have to draw the front and back cover and scan the inside pages. I have ordered an extra 1gb ram for my computer in anticipation of the mammoth task of scanning 50-60 at 1200 DPI! I have also been adding a new item each week to my etsy store , and currently have the last remaining copy, to my knowledge, of 7 Pages digest #5 (that is on top of my own personal copy which I must remember to keep) No new T-shirts recently but there is still a good range there , and
I recently remembered that i have this free zine download for offer. It's an A4 shaped zine though, so for those of you in Nth America that use letter sized paper I can't guarantee how it will come out. Details below: I have uploaded the PDF of ‘7 Pages #6’ here Instructions: 1-upload file 2-print on a printer that can do double sided, or print pages one at a time and flip as needed. There are 2 double sided pages in total. 3-Once printed cut all A4 sheets horizontally in the middle of the paper (see pic #2) 4-Arrange according to letters in the middle of the page, first ‘A’ then ‘B’ etc. 5-staple with long arm staple or hand sew pages together. You now will have a copy for yourself at your own expense instantly Disclaimer: Obviously the PDF is only intended to be used for printing a personal copy and is not entirely copyright free. Ie don’t take my images makes t-shirts and sell them for $$$
Thought I'd link you to Pranas web comic as I seem to get a lot of traffic from there and would like to give back some in return. I donated a small amount of money to him earlier in the year after he got his brand new imac stolen . Good news was he managed to get enough donations to buy another one. But then a few months ago got held up at gun point, and I thought I had a rough year!
'Stop forgetting to remember' -Peter Kuper (Link) I forgot to mention Peter Kuper's book 'Stop forgetting to remember'. I've been a fan of Kuper's work long before I even got into alternative comics and I enjoy flicking through mad magazine just to see his spy-VS-spy when I get the chance. This is a fantastic book that covers many different topics from, friends love money drugs travel working babies sex. The book apparently took him around 10 years to make
I will now be offering prints of the strips on this blog. Anytime you see one that you really like you can order a signed B&W print on Arches paper for only $10 (postage included worldwide) It's a great way to support the making of the strip and get something back in return! These strips are printed from the original high-resolution artwork files on acid free paper and are ready to frame. All strips are hand-signed by me. Shipped in securely, in reinforced packaging.
Here's some comics whilst they did not come out this year I still enjoyed reading them this year and stayed in my mind...(in no particular order) 1-'Stuck rubber baby'-Howard Cruse ( link ) The book has a strange art style that is kind of appealing and repulsive at the same time. Sometimes I felt like there was just way too much detail in the art, over crosshatching and stipling. The art aside this comic is big and inturn read like a novel, as there was time to develop the story and characters over the many pages. The story really stuck with me and often pops back up in my head. Worth reading. 2-'Buddy does seattle' colection'-Pete Bagge (Link) Not having read much 'Hate' before it took me by surprise that I enjoyed this buddy collection so much. I had many laugh out loud moments and really got into the characters a lot. I even managed to enjoy the book even though the the libraries copy smelled like it had been sitting in an ashtray! 3-'Chaos m
