Spinach Comic Book Template (Procreate and Photoshop)
Ever since I picked up the iPad app Procreate, I have discovered a new joy in making comic pages. It was tricky at first, however I have now drawn over 100 pages of comics and settled on a good layout system.
Free Wordle Scratchpad Template
Wordle still continues to be a daily dose of normal in a weird time. I don't try to play competitively with Wordle, meaning I just do it for fun and not obsess about how many rows it takes. However, when I find myself on row 4 and I'm still not really getting anywhere I break out a sheet of paper r or post-it notes and quickly draw a series of 5 underlines.
Pages assist discovery in Procreate
I've been using the handy 'Page assist' feature in Procreate for making comics. A cool aspect of this is that you can use the first layer as a 'background layer'. This background layer persists through all layers, making it perfect for guides or for when you export the final artwork.
Carl Beam (Updated)
Almost 20 years ago in 2006, when I was at art school, I was looking into photocopy techniques in art and printmaking and came across the work of Carl Beam. I quickly fell in love with his process and work. Now in 2023 I am living in Canada and was invited to First Nations University for an outreach event. We were kindly offered lunch as part of the event. After grabbing a plate, I sat down at a table and an artwork on the wall next to me caught my eye. My head whipped around as I realised it was a Carl Beam Original! The I turn my head more and there are three more originals.
Cool background and vest... what did you use for that?ReplyDelete
Agreed. You use some very interesting textures.ReplyDelete
Drawn with my regular pen and then added grey tones in Photoshop after that I use a special action I created to make the textured dot pattern. I usually use it with colour peices but this looks good just in B&WReplyDelete
Looks great! New reader but big fan!ReplyDelete
